Dotty Textiles specialises in Stitchscapes, using pre-printed cotton fabrics to inform the colours, patterns and embroidery stitches of the landscape inspired pieces. The fabrics are cut and tacked down to create the overall image before working a free-style range of embroidery stitches and techniques over the top of each layer to add depth and texture.
The kits that are available will teach you how to put the Stitchscapes together as well as some basic embroidery stitches so these are perfect for beginners and more advanced embroiderers alike. You are encouraged to make the piece your own and through the use of batik fabrics and printed cottons, each kit will have a slightly different focus or colour to help with this.
If you aren't after a piece you can embroider yourself, original Stitchscapes stitched by the artist and designer, Beth Power, are available, as well as printed products (mounted prints, postcards and greetings cards) featuring photographs of the original pieces.
Workshops are available throughout the year and dates can be seen on the website.
