The fabric always has the final say. ✂️

@rose.stitchery set out to explore the slashed and layered technique as part of her Skill Stage 3 Patchwork course. Multiple fabric layers stitched together, cut through, then tumbled in the wash to fray, curl, and reveal the colours beneath. Textural, raw, and when it works it's genuinely stunning.

The fabric had other ideas.

Too tight a weave to let go at the edges. More subtle than she'd imagined.

But here's what we noticed: she already knows exactly why. She read the result, understood the variable, and is planning the next attempt with a looser weave. That instinct... treating an unexpected outcome as information rather than failure is precisely what this stage of learning is about.

We can't wait to see what the fabric says next time. 🧵
