Stitch Directory's Aims

The main objective of the Stitch Directory is to support independent retailers and suppliers of craft supplies. If your store falls into any of the below categories, consider adding your business to this art and craft directory for FREE:

Benefits to Businesses

At the School of Stitched Textiles, all our City and Guilds textile courses, along with our beginner online craft courses, require students to supply their own materials and equipment. As such, we are regularly asked about the best independent craft shops. Our Stitch Directory allows businesses to put their stores in front of an active community of shoppers, artists, makers and crafters.

Due to being completely FREE to use, haberdashery companies near you can add their listing and make regular amends at no cost.

Benefits to Artists

Artists and crafters can use the Stitch Directory to find stores and suppliers within their area. Type your location or product into the search and you’ll find textile shops near you.

Our craft supplies directory couldn’t be easier to use so find your local craft suppliers below.

Ashford Equipment Stockist
Wide Range Of Natural and Dyed Fibres
Unit 22 TownHead Mills, Main Street, Addingham LS29 8QJ
Description:

We supply a wide range of fibres including over 20 breeds of British wool tops and a large selection of dyed Merino tops. The Merino isn't native to to the UK but it's a beautiful fibre which we have dyed for us here in Yorkshire. Added to this we have carded Bergschaf wool which is excellent for both 2 and 3d felted work and this also comes in both naturals and dyed shades. For those who'd like something different we have an array of plant and silk fibres and occasionally we personally dye some of these for limited edition listings.

Across all disciplines we have books available for the novice and the more experienced amongst you. Simon hand turns all our top whorl spindles with other designs made by our friend John in Cumbria and we hold comprehensive stocks of Ashford wheels, looms and spare parts for anyone interested in spinning, carding or weaving wool. Being able to spin a unique yarn for your knitting and crochet projects is so much fun! Our organic cotton yarn is perfect for crochet, knitting and weaving and we're working on expanding our range of yarns.

We are the sole UK supplier of palm washboards by HeartFelt Silks, these tools are excellent for wet felters and they're available in a range of shapes and sizes to suit different projects. Our Merino pre-felt fabric is great as backgrounds for felt making but can also be used in embroidery, applique and mosaic work. Usually in stock is cotton muslin, cotton scrim, jute hessian, silk paj and silk gauze and occasionally we offer some of these as dyed pieces suitable for nuno felting or as stitch backgrounds.
