Elaine Jamie-Rose Campbell completed our City & Gu Elaine Jamie-Rose Campbell completed our City & Guilds accredited Skill Stage 3 Hand Embroidery in October 2024. This is a selection of work that she produced while studying with us. There are around 360 hours of course content and materials split across 12 modules. Here’s what you’ll learn: Research a chosen artist Introduction to embroidery stitches: Line, isolated and textured stitches Develop your own portfolio of your own experiments and designs Experiment with ideas and images Counted embroidery basics: Blackwork, drawn thread, hardanger, counted cross stitch Advanced stitches: Canvas Work, Goldwork Embroidery, Applique samples Development of different styles: Hand Quilting, smocking, stumpwork Study of colour fibres and fabrics Explore different principles of line, colour and texture Create your own sample folio containing traditional and contemporary techniques and embroidery samples Edging and finishing techniques to add a professional looking finishing to your pieces Creation of several own-designed pieces Complete a final assessment piece. Choose from either a 3D functional item, a panel/hanging/quilt or a wearable art item.
