The School of Stitched Textiles produces short Taster Courses for those who have considered studying by distance learning, but require a taste of what is involved before committing themselves.
The current free taster course is: Appliqué and Hand Embroidery
This short taster course gives you the opportunity to find out if distance learning will suit you. Leading you through a small practical project to try your hand at the craft, it also ascertains how easy you find working from pictures and instructions.
Also included are some thought provoking questions on how well your life and learning styles would fit in with distance learning, and a skill level checker - so that you can gain an idea of where you are on a scale of complete beginner to total expert. We also include a link to our brochure from which you can get an excerpt from one of our City and Guilds online modules.
